About us

I have been putting off this post for almost six months, but in the spirit of healing, today is the day!

My lovely friend and business partner, Jenny, died in November last year after a very short and tragic illness. I, her husband Mike, and all of her family, friends and acquaintances, will miss her more than we ever thought possible.

Jenny had a quiet, gentle, generous spirit, a huge heart and a talent for art that grew year on year. People who come into the shop all have their own stories of how Jenny inspired them and that is truly what she did - inspired.

Jenny's wish was that Mike and I continue the business, and continue to display her art in cards, prints and one or two last originals. At first, that seemed an impossible ask, but slowly, surrounded by her brushes, notes and hand-written signs, Jenny has inspired us to do just that. Today I can sit here in peace, the sun shining through the window, bright with promise and hope for the future.

Patterns of Light has always been a happy place to stop by - whether it is for a card, a gift, or simply a chat and a cuppa and I hope that we can continue to acheive that. Do drop in if you're passing - or plan a trip if you're not! We always have something unusual in, including our Highland Dragons!

Based in Kishorn, South West Ross, we are surrounded by inspiration; the breathtaking views out to Skye and the majestic grandeur of the corries cradling the famous Bealach Na Ba (pass of the cattle) which takes one over to Applecross are truly awe-inspiring.

Visiting the shop is a truly unique experience and we are now delighted to be able to share this online.
