Charlotte Bauermeister collects these shells from local beaches, polishes the inside of the shell, creates a web with silver thread and finally attaches a semi-precious stone. They are exquisite and make very special and unique gifts.

The owl was a young one and sat on the road in the headlights for half a minute looking at us with it’s big eyes. About 11.45 pm.

 The yurt is open for summer and autumnn workshops making dreamcatchers. Prices are £10 per person per hour and include all materials.

Workshops are usually for one up to ten people. Book your own time and we can nearly always suit your timetable.

Catcher on Torridonian Heather

Pat Taylor creates these  ‘Catchers’,  as she calls them, on heather she collects whilst climbing and walking the Torridon hills near her home.

It is fascinating to see how she is progressing with them since coming here in the snows of February to do a workshop.

marmalade and gift tags

The marmalade was made in January.  I love the smell of marmalade all over the house.

My mother or my grandmother always made it so I had no need. Now, it’s down to me and I’m loving it. Ordered so many Seville oranges that, even after I had supplied friends in the village,  I still had too many for gifts and breakfast for a year. So……into the shop with the remainder.
My real take on all this marmalade-making is the importation of sunshine from Spain straight into my kitchen in the dark time of the year. Perfect.
Now…..honeysuckle……..two friends,  Maureen and Tony, arrived with honeysuckle prunings. Have been making dreamcatcher hoops (and selling one!). They said:
We have been slashing and burning and thought of you……..what a good community.
Wouldn’t live anywhere else.

One of a series of boxes (29cmx18cmx depth 9.5cm). Really enjoy making these…..first painted with white gesso, then piped with gesso,sanded when dry,  painted with several coats of acrylic paint and a blending brush.

Finally I use gilders wax and a cloth to polish various sections.
