Jenny Turner
My work begins with the effect of changing light on the landscape. I live and work in Wester Ross and try to capture the powerful land forms, colours and moods of the Highlands. The coastline features strongly in my work and the written word is often worked into pieces, giving a sense of history and place. Texture is an important element and I often apply gesso with a palette knife before painting begins. Gilding wax, hand-dyed yarns, torn papers and 'found' objects feature strongly and I work in many different media, seeking to evoke an emotional response to the land.
