As of 2020 I made the decision to close the shop I was running in Kishorn, in order to focus on my own work. So…I have taken my work home with me, to the tiny village of Arrina, on the coastal route to Applecross.
I am not a trained artist, I didn’t study art. I just came to it. My grandmother sat me down with a set of watercolour paints when I was a child and I found a love of painting landscapes, animals, and nature. I took on a business in Kishorn in 2014, called Patterns of Light. It was here I developed my skills, explored different mediums, and developed a real love for colour. I paint on slates and pebbles using acrylics, and more recently created a series inspired by the sea, using watercolour inks, salt resist techniques, and acrylics when I needed to up the power of the colours. This was followed by more work inspired by nature - moths, butterflies, insects, birds. I love the tiny beautiful detail in all these things, and they are a joy to paint! Since 2020 I have been painting from home, and have focused on animals and birds I can see close by. 2025 saw my most creative year, when I produced twelve original painting of British Birds. I also tried my first linocut prints. 2026 sees me experimenting with combining fire art (pyrography) and acrylic paints. I like to experiment with new mediums when I get a chance!
